Wild Side Class Gallery

This class is for all the animal lovers out there and maybe even any future Veterinarians! We will learn all about how to care for our favorite pets & other types of animals through the use of  informational videos, research tasks, arts & crafts and other hands on activities that are sure to spark their imagination; as they gain knowledge & develop their skills in research, literacy, & communication.

They will even have the opportunity to sponsor an animal in need through the Young Vets Club Foundation. A class membership and welcome packet with materials will be included with the price of this class. There may also be some fun, furry, four legged classroom visitors & parent led field trips as well! 

Classes meet one day a week for 1 hour. We are on a 15 week Semester for the Fall & a 16 week Semester for the Spring. Prices include the entire Fall OR Spring Semester as well as all materials needed unless otherwise specified in the class descriptions below. Monthly payments are optional but must be set up with the Vendor prior to beginning the class. For further inquires please reach out. Thank you!

WILDFLOWERS: SOWING THE SEEDS OF FRIENDSHIP

That's what this class is all about! A place to grow connection with others, build trust, be honest, encourage one another, develop empathy, & support each others ideas, while discovering a deeper confidence in who they are at their core. Through short stories, arts & crafts, games, journaling, and confidence building activities GIRLS will learn how to cherish one another and themselves.

LEVEL 2 Grade 3-5th

Students will develop their imagination and enhance their creativity through crafting original and detailed writing pieces.Students will learn to convey their ideas and emotions in a coherent and engaging manner; using what is called the "Show NOT Tell" writing format. Students will also learn the 7 basic elements of Creative Writng; Character, Plot, Setting, Theme, Point of View, Conflict, & Resolution. Introducing new vocabulary, emphasis on correct spelling and other writing skills will be covered in this class as well.

This class is for everyone who loves words, struggles with words or is just plain in between about words because this class focuses on WORDS! Spelling words, Vocabulary words, even Grammatically correct forms of words; as well as the Parts of Speech such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, adverbs, and prepositions etc. Stories, games, arts & crafts, and fun partnered  challenges are all teaching methods used to create a relaxed atmosphere and actively engage each student in learning more about the language that can sometimes be quite an enigma! Interactive Notebooks are provided & kept by each student as a reference tool. They are used in each class throughout the semester.

SPEAKER'S LEAGUE: OPINION WRITING  Grades 6-8th 

In this class students will learn how to express their opinion about topics that interest them in a way that is clear, concise & supported by evidence, logic and credible sources. Students will also be asked to present their well articulated opinion pieces in front of the class to become comfortable speaking in front of others and/or to further develop their public speaking skills.

READER'S THEATER

Grades 3-5th

This class is based on developing reading fluency.

Using story based scripts students will be given roles to read from as a way to practice word pronunciation, inflection, reading speed and accuracy. We will use minimal costumes & props as a way to inspire a love of reading & encourage imagination! The focus of the class is on developing and improving reading skills or to just have fun while getting in some solid reading practice!

CONTINUING READING K- 1st

This class is for all developing and continuing readers!

We will cover the 5 main components of READING;; phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. We will learn these components through exploring phoneme sounds & blends, picture books, poems, rhymes, alliteration, word families. sight words, and decoding. All of those strategies combined with word walks, arts & crafts and games students skills will be strengthened and it is my hope that during this process a love for reading will be sparked!

ADVENTURES OF FLAT STANLEY
& THE NIFTY 50 STATES

There's no place on Earth a flat kid can't go! This class is a fun & interactive way to enjoy reading while learn about the 50 States! State histories, geography& famous geographical landmarks will be some of the things we learn as we take a trip across the United States led by Stanley, a regular boy, who just happens to be flat, and decides to use the U.S Postal system and the Internet to travel! This class is interactive and will include short letter writing, sending & receiving emails, letters or drawings, arts & crafts as well as other book related activities & additional reader responses.
